Alessandro Matti is “not worried” about Italy’s defeat to Argentina on Tuesday, having won the World Cup with his side in Brazil.
The defeat to Chile was a disappointing end to an excellent World Cup campaign, which saw Matri and his team-mates dominate all phases of the game and create chances for the hosts.
Matri’s side are now out of contention for the 2019 World Cup in Russia, where they face Argentina.
“We played a very good game and won the game,” Matri told reporters in Rome on Wednesday.
“It’s a bit hard to see what the result is, but it’s an opportunity to make a step forward.”
Matri has played just over half of Italy’s World Cup appearances this season.
