Prescription glasses are a popular luxury item, especially for the wealthy, but they’re also becoming a popular way for a president to see the world.
That may soon change.
Donald Trump said on Monday that he’s considered getting a Supreme Court justice to fill an open seat on the court.
It’s a possibility that’s drawing criticism from Republicans and some Democrats, who worry that the justices would favor a conservative agenda.
Trump, speaking at the Conservative Political Action Conference, said he thinks he’d be “great” to fill the seat if the party is able to nominate someone from outside the political establishment.
“We’re going to have to see,” Trump said.
“I have to say, it’s been really hard to get somebody from outside.
I’d be great to have somebody from the outside.”
Trump also said he’d consider appointing a “good judge” to replace Justice Anthony Kennedy, who died in February.
“If I’m in the Senate, I would probably do that,” Trump added.
Trump’s comments come amid a broader national debate over whether the Supreme Court should be left to its own devices or a full court.
Kennedy, a conservative, was the chief justice of the United States for more than half a century.
